The 2014 Covenant Campaign

Make-pledge-buttonWebsite-Pledge-CardWe, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. Romans 12:5

When we joined this church, we pledged to fully engage in the life of the church and entered into a covenant, promising to “covenant with the Lord and with one another, and [to] bind ourselves in the presence of God to walk together in all His ways, according as He is pleased to reveal Himself unto us in His blessed word of truth.”

Our covenant is spiritual, but it also reflects the call for all church members to support the church financially.  As members, we are shareholders in this historical church and we support the ongoing spiritual experience, Christian formation, and love of neighbor as part of our covenant.  We have the privilege and the responsibility to preserve the past, honor the present, and live into the future of what God makes possible through our good works.

We know that for some tithing is aspirational, but so much of our life here at the church is aspiring to fulfill God’s call. So what are we asking for in 2014? Pledging at many churches drops when a longtime Senior Minister has left. We ask you NOT to let that happen.  For 2014, we ask that you prayerfully consider what you can do to keep this church vibrant and strong, and help us to reach our pledge goal.

The Bible talks about living into the flourishing life through tithing, as in Malachi 3:10, “Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and thus put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing.”

We know that the men, women, and children of the congregation have been, are, and will continue to be The Congregational Church of New Canaan. As we have for the last 280 years, we continue to look to God to guide us to the next phase for us as a community of the faithful. Let us bring the full tithe to the storehouse and see the abundant blessings that God will continue to provide.
