Church School

Registration for 2014-15 is now open! Get registration forms here.

Our Church School program is unique in that each week, throughout the program year, the children are welcomed by the same teacher. Together they explore a biblically enriching curriculum, coupled with monthly chapel services that are modeled after our traditional church services with a little extra spice for fun! Our classrooms, which feature custom mural art depicting biblical narratives, offer a warm and inviting space for Children to explore their faith journey.

Worship Opportunities

There are many worship opportunities throughout the year that focus on children and families. On the first Sunday of each month, grades 1st- 7th meet in the chapel during the Church School hour to experience a special worship service designed just for them. The children have a great time doing various activities and leading their family, friends and peers through the service liturgy all while learning about respect and reverence in worship. Families can also participate in a number of worship services in our Meeting House. Our “Family Worship” services include, Thanksgiving Sunday, the annual 3rd grade Nativity Pageant, Christmas Eve (4pm), the annual Children’s Musical and Children’s Sunday (10am).

Preparing our children to continue God’s mission by involving them in projects focused both home and abroad is an integral part of their spiritual experience. Each week an offering is collected in the children’s classroom which goes toward the current mission project of the church school. This Spring’s offering will go to support the school children of the Maassai tribe in Kenya. Look for more to come! New initiatives between the Missions and Social Action committee and Children and Family Ministries will provide more family oriented service opportunities and incorporate the Church School in church wide food and clothing drives.

Drop-Off and Pick-up

Three year old and four year old classes- Parents may drop off children prior to the 9:30am service each Sunday and children must be picked up before going to fellowship hour.

Kindergarten- 3rd grades

Begin their Sunday in the Meeting House with their families. Children recess to their appropriate classrooms either following the Children’s Message or where indicated in the order of worship. This information is always printed in the bulletin. Following the service, parents must pick up their children from their classrooms before going to Fellowship Hour. An appropriately aged friend or sibling may pick up a child ONLY if their name is designated on the child’s registration form.

4th – 7th grades

Also begin their worship in the Meeting House and recess as above. However, these children are dismissed at the end of the church service and will meet their families in Smith Hall for Fellowship Hour.
