Pivot’s Next Turn – October 5

Friday, September 27th, 2013

MO-LogoPivot Ministries, a men’s residential drug and alcohol recovery program, is a long and beloved partner of our church. This fall they are in the process of raising money to rehab a house adjacent to their current campus which will be used both for more dormitory space and for business opportunities for the men as they progress through the program.

On October 5, we will help them kick-off this new venture by building a staging area for the new construction which we plan also to be involved with. All ages are welcome at this event. We’ll leave from the church circle at 9:00am for Bridgeport to work, eat (lunch that is), and maybe a bit more work, returning home by early to mid-afternoon. Please join us!

Become a Stephen Minister

Wednesday, September 4th, 2013

sm_blue logo_lightDo you feel a call to be a Stephen Minister?

Stephen Leaders Jim Cole and Avril Sweeny will be offering Stephen Ministry training planned to begin this fall. If you are sensing a call to serve as a Stephen Minister, we invite you to E-mail or call Jim, Avril, or Chris Delmar to set up a time to talk before the training begins.

In Stephen Ministry congregations (like ours), lay caregivers called Stephen Ministers provide one-on-one Christian care to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced, unemployed, relocated, and others facing a crisis or life challenge. Stephen Ministry helps pastors and congregations provide quality caring ministry for as long as people need it. Our church has a well-established Stephen Ministry; since its inception, the program has grown to two lay leaders, a Stephen Ministry-trained pastor, and twenty-six Stephen Ministers. This is a most rewarding way to serve our congregation and to love one another.

A Pastoral Message Regarding the Boston Marathon Tragedy

Tuesday, April 16th, 2013

Dear CCNC Members and Friends,

We are all shocked and deeply saddened by the terrible events that took place in Boston yesterday.

Our hearts ache for the families who lost loved ones in this senseless tragedy, and we are praying for God’s comfort for them.  We are also praying for all who were injured, and that God bless to them healing, courage and strength in the long days ahead of recovery.  We pray for peace of mind and spirit of all the first responders who were at or who came upon the devastation and for those who are now working on the investigation.  And we are praying for all of us, that we not lose heart at this latest attempt to terrorize our open way of life, or our trust that God is with the brokenhearted.  The Lord is our Shepherd even in these hard shadows.

If there is someone in your own circle of family or friends that has been directly hurt by what has happened, and you would like prayers for them, or to speak with a pastor, please call the church office at (203)966-2651.  You can also submit a prayer request directly to your prayer chain, by emailing

In hope and faith,

Your Pastors
